Türkiye has become the strategic partner of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI), according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources. The Three Seas Initiative brings together the presidents of countries located between the Adriatic, Baltic, and Black Seas to promote cooperation. The aim is to strengthen the European Union’s cohesion by improving infrastructure, energy, and economic cooperation among Central European countries. A 1,100-year-old sealed amphora was discovered in a shipwreck off the coast of Kas, Antalya, during an underwater excavation using robotic technology, officials said. The excavation was led by associate professor Hakan Öniz of Akdeniz University, under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s “Heritage for the Future Project.” A 20-member diving team operated on behalf of the Antalya Museum. After meticulous work, the team retrieved the sealed amphora from a depth of about 45 to 50 meters (about 148 to 165 feet).
